CONGRATULATIONS! It has been one or more years since your appliances were removed and retainers were placed. Now that your active retention period has been completed, regularly scheduled retention checks are no longer necessary. We are placing your records in our Request Recall file. If you wish to return to our office for a check-up or to replace a worn, damaged, or lost retainer, we will be happy to see you, but there will be a charge for this service. FACTS ABOUT TOOTH MOVEMENT It is a common misconception that teeth are like pieces of steel set in concrete - and they will remain straight forever. This is simply not true. Living tissue is always subject to change and movement. The amount of movement is usually dependent on the original malocclusion, the facial muscle structure, and the amount of residual growth. CAUSES OF MOVEMENT
RE-TREATMENT AND CONTINUING OBSERVATION The original treatment fee included active treatment and the one year retention phase. Any re-treatment after that will be subject to a fee. We recommend yearly observation visits to our office until the age of 25, when most significant growth occurs by, or beyond if you desire. We will not remind you of these visits, but you may call on your own and be seen at our normal office visit charge for as long as you wish. THANK YOU Consulting Network © 2005
