-SUTURE EXPANDER-
[Printer-Friendly PDF Version]
- Your suture expander appliance is to be activated two turns in the morning and two turns at night by rotating the key from the top to bottom. Make sure the key is attached to your wrist with string before using in your mouth.
- There may be some sensation of pain at the bridge of your nose, near you ears, at your cheeks, or between your front teeth.
- Don’t be surprised if a space is created between the front teeth. This is what we expect from your appliance.
- Be very careful to keep the roof of your mouth extra clean by rinsing with water or using an irrigation device (such as a Water Pik).
- Check daily to be sure that all bands are tight on each tooth by pushing gently with your finger. If you should find that one or more of your bands are loose, stop turning your expander and call the office immediately.
- It is very important that weekly appointments be kept while this appliance is being activated! If one of your appointments cannot be kept, please call the office prior to your appointment date to reschedule.
